Hi! i would like to know how to build a on SuSE 8.1 with kernel 2 .4.19-4GB.

You ought to upgrade to the latest SuSE before you try installing drivers (unless you already know that 9.1 doesn't support it either).

Just did some googling, the 8738 does work under linux. Maybe you should check here (if ozzu can't help!)
