Anyone have any idea what this means for the future of Mono? I was really excited about that platform (GTK# is great for one thing), and wanted to use it as a springboard to C# - now I'm wary of it's future.

but i think the statement has a slight modification for M$. its more like, "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. and then steal from them. and then make an inferior version and tell everyone its better."
