Please show me how to install the necessary credentials so that I can watch movie (.avi files) in FC2. Do I need to install Codec in FC2?

Thank you very much.

When you install the media player mplayer one of the dependencies (usually) is the codec pac w32codecs-all. Once mplayer is installed you shouldn't have too much trouble playing video files.

Good luck.

it helps to have apt & synaptic installed.. apt: http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrpms/ ... nux/2/apt/
once installed, to get synaptic open a terminal..
Code: [ Select ]
$ su
<password>
# apt-get update
# apt-get install synaptic
  1. $ su
  2. <password>
  3. # apt-get update
  4. # apt-get install synaptic

once thats through, just run a command, the command being "synaptic", and you can search (ctrl+f) for such things as mplayer or similar players.. it also has a sections view where it shows you the sections on the left side and whats inside the sections on the right. its a really handy thing to have...
