Are there great advantages in installing Solaris on my PC? Can I have XP and Solaris? Are there many programs that come bundled with Solaris?
I like to work with graphics and composition. Are there good graphics programs provided for Solaris?
Solaris is an OS, right?
An OS is the same as a platform, right?

Thanks for class.

Any particular reason for choosing Solaris?

Are you just wanting to try an alternative OS? If so, I don't recommend solaris because, at least from my experience, it's not that user friendly for people who aren't familiar with UNIX. If you just want a different OS to use for graphics purposes, there are many good distributions of Linux which might work better for you.

You can probably install solaris with XP. Search google for solaris dual boot

As for graphics software, there are many great free programs you can use. Namely, I recommend the Gimp. It's free and very comparable to photoshop.

yes, you can dual boot XP and Solaris.
personally I prefer photoshop over the gimp, but it doesn't do a bad job. especially being free, lol.

Your only option isn't to use a M$ product :P
