I hope I posted this in the right forum.

Whenever I try and run the apache_install script I get this error message:

Error: could not find any of these C compilers anywhere in your PATH: gcc cc acc c89

Heres what the apache_install script looks like and I'm running Fedora Core 4
cd /usr/local/src/webserver/apache_1.3.33
make distclean
./configure \
--prefix=/www \
--enable-module=so \
--enable-module=rewrite \
--enable-shared=rewrite \
--enable-module=mime \
--enable-shared=mime \
--enable-module=mime_magic \
--enable-shared=mime_magic \
--enable-module=dir \
--enable-shared=dir \
--enable-module=auth \
--enable-shared=auth \
--enable-module=access \
--enable-shared=access \
--enable-module=alias \
--enable-shared=alias \
--enable-module=status \
--enable-shared=status \
--enable-module=userdir \
--enable-shared=userdir \
--enable-module=vhost_alias \
--enable-shared=vhost_alias \
--enable-module=env \
--enable-shared=env \
--enable-module=log_referer \
--enable-shared=log_referer \
--enable-module=log_config \
--enable-shared=log_config \
--enable-module=log_agent \
--enable-shared=log_agent \
--enable-module=headers \
--enable-shared=headers

Im not sure but I think I dont have the C compiler installed on my system and if that is so then where do I get them from.

Thanks in advance.

On the source media, you need to install the development packages. I haven't used a Red Hat system in a while, but I think, if they have a graphical package manager, there is a group labeled "Development Tools" or maybe "Developers Workstation" or something. I might be confused with another distro, but that's basicly what you're looking for.

Sorry I can't be more specific. I'd normally take the time to look it up for you but I'm getting ready to head out for the weekend.

Good luck!
