Send what?

Files?

Uh, FTP, SCP, SFTP, Samba (NetBios share), etc. ad nauseam.

I think he's referring to Net Send, one of the services found on Windows. Basically you send a message and an alert box shows up, similar to the one found on MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger.

There are a few programs for sending messages:

However I don't think there's any way to receive messages.

Is there a reason why you want this?

A GTK- based NetSend GUI for linux for sending and recieving net sends from linux/windows machines. Uses Samba to send and recieve messages.It can be minimized into the system tray and a popup window will appear as soon as a message is recieved.

LinWinTalk::

Installation is simple and provided along with the package.
