new laptop

i have been given my auntys old laptop when she got a new one. it runs quite slow on ME which it is currently on. so i am gunna put it onto DSL if i do this and by a wireless router and laptop card will linux suport my wireless conection? and if so how do i get it to conect to the router corectly.

check the list to make sure the wireless nic is compatible.
once you have the hardware as long as the nic is installed/working properly and the router is up & running, it should automatically detect the wireless network and then give you the option of connecting.

i would recommend using the google search box towards the bottom of the page, and choosing to search linuxcompatible.org for the model of the w-nic youre getting. that would probably be the quickest way of finding out if its on there
