I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. I am having a problem getting Fedora Core 1 to recognize the NIC. I just installed Fedora Core 1 and I can't figure out how to get it to configure the Negear FA311 NIC. I am totally new to Linux, so not sure what to do. At boot up it says that the e0 is not recognized. How do I get it to configure and work? I am behind a router using DHCP, but am not getting that far and NIC is not being recognized so I can't configure it. On bootup it says interface e0 seems to be not presents:failed. At /sbin/ifconfig it says link enap:Local Loobback , inet address: 127.0.0.1. Shows loopback running and no TX or RX packets. I do not see the Netgear FA311 in the dropdown list under select ethernet device in the GUI (KDE). Any ideas?

Well I was able to figure it out on my own. I just switched to a Linksys NIC and now it works fine.

the problem might also have been fixed by finding the correct module and loading that at bootup.
