I didnt understan yet how to use it.

Like.. i wanted to copy a file from one host to another through scp.
None of the hosts is my local machine.

I open a ssh session in one host, then i triger the scp this way

Code: [ Select ]
nohup scp [source] [dest]

then i close the window an d let it be.

Ok... basicaly the copy stops if i close the window. Like... wasnt that the thing it shouldn't do because of me using nohup?

I am not really sure if nohup is used for that. What you should do is simply run the process in the background so that you can close the window. To do that you use the & symbol. So for instance you could use the following syntax:

scp [source] [dest] &

That would immediately have it running as a background process. If you ever wanted to bring it back to the foreground you could type fg.

Let me know if that resolves your problem.
