Phlack OS?

First off let me say that I am not hq16. I had the same question he but it didnt get answered but I also plan not to ask it the way he did.

Is Phlack a distribution or is it a set of hacker tools kinda like SATAN? Judging by its 500MB size it does not look like a distro but I have heard that you can sometimes fit Linux into 100MB or less.

I think you fail to realize what a distro *is*. Any pre-packaged set of tools based on the Linux kernel is a Linux distro. Phlack is no different.

I don't see any benefit of using Phlack over other security-driven distros such as Trinux. Actually, to me Phlack looks very much like a poor attempt at a "1337" distro.

No no no. If you run the Linux kernel, you're running a type of OS. All an OS really does is provide an interface mecahnism between high-level programs to low level hardware. Well, more than that, but basicly yeah.

What makes a distro is the tools and scripts that are packaged with it.
