I installed apache2 on redhat8.
then I launch http://localhost/, but there is only a error page, below is the error message:
/******Start**************/
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/2.0.45 (Unix) Server at 10.9.0.9 Port 80
/******end************/

by the way, I use "root" did all the things, I think I shoul have the permission. I also try to use tomcat listening port 80, it works.

can anybody help me? thanks!

Look in the error log to see if you can see more details. I am not positive but the error log for Apache 2 is probably located at /var/log/httpd/error_log

That might help you find the exact problem.

I don't think so, its a permission problem from the sound of it. Make sure that the location its trying to access has the folder permissions 755. I know in the past I have got that problem before due to incorrect permissions in the directory its trying to access.

I gotta put one in on this because i have question too. where did the 10.9.0.9:80 come from? is that the nic? because i assumed all were 127.0.0.1 in which case i'd guess there was some weird setting in httpd.conf (incorrect nic IP) its definitely permissions, but its the root www folder that has permission probs...should default to 755...hmm
