Hello Guys,

I am sure that I installed Creative AWE sound card, but my Linux Redhat is not detecting and playing sound when I incert a CD. But I get the other system sounds like stop and other O/S sound.

Where do I go to get sound drivers for my system and how do I install them. Thanks for any help.

If your getting system sounds through the sound card then your problem is likely to be the cdrom drive rather than the sound card.

strangely redhat often seems to have the line-in set mute by default.
try playing a cd and then go through all the the settings on kMix (its under Sound & Video from the main menu) make sure they are enabled and the sound is maxed out.
