Return

Once again I've spent countless hours trying to solve a stupid problem of my own making, only to discover I'd solved it much earlier except for one small point. I'd forgotten to press enter at the end of the last line of a file I'd edited. Last time it was fstab this time the hosts file. Can someone tell me if this last, seemingly pointless return is always required in Linux files!!! </rant>
