RH9 blank screen when logged in

hi guys..I'm new to Redhat. I have RH9 which i newly installed..I changed the GUI mode from Gnome to KDE (in root account)..It said it should restart to apply the changes.So i restarted my machine and logged in as root. It logs in fine but i have a blank screen and no GUI.

but i can log in as a normal user..Is there any way that i can switch to Gnome in root account?.

Help is really appreciated.

please do see if you can resolve it by using the redhat-config-xfree86 command hope this may resolve your problem

you may also check your /etc/inittab file
check to see the the line id:5:initdefault

check if xfs is running it's a X window font server daemon
