Howdy guys..
I'm using RHEL 6.2 on my work laptop. I have a Plantronics .Audio 655 DSP headset. When I use it on my desktop at home under Win7 (/shudder) I have no issues with the mic. However, I can't get any input from the mic on my laptop. I've checked to make sure it's not muted, that the volume is up, that the headset's mic is the input selected.. Basically I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. Any suggestions on something else to try to get my mic working?

Thanks

Not sure about RHEL (I only use it for servers), but in fedora, I go System > preferences > hardware > sound > output and select the headset. However, even after doing so, it still doesn't show in gmixer.

Oh, and my desktop likes to lock up if I don't change it back to the system soundcard before unplugging it - that's always nice :)

lol i've migrated to fedora, and my mic is working just fine. i'm not sure what the issue was in RHEL, but in any case - i much prefer fedora to RHEL.
i pretty much tried everything i could think of, aside from reinstalling RHEL. i figured if i was going to reinstall, i might as well use a distro i enjoy >.>

thanks for the replies this
