Hey there! I just got finished finally installing Mandrake Linux on my system. I am completely new to Linux so please bear with me. I noticed after partitioning my drive and getting it running that Java applet windows do not open up and run online. By this I mean webcams and live video feeds. Is this just one of the downfalls of Linux or is there a solution to get around this?

I am running on a Compaq Presario 2100 Laptop running on AMD Athlon XP-M. Thanks!

Have you downloaded and installed Java Runtime and installed a symbolic link to your browser plugins?

There's info on installation here http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/linux.htm

OK, I finally got fed up with the way Windows was constantly giving me headaches and getting viruses and whatnot. Therefore I went ahead and completely deleted Windows from my system and installed Mandrake Linux as my sole OS. I love it so far but I'm still having a problem with installing the plugins! I can download everything fine but I'm a little confused as to how to set Paths and symbolic links and such. Theak, that link that you initially provided doesn't seem to work for me.

What I need is something that will walk me through baby step by baby step to get this thing up and running properly. I DO NOT want to go back to Windows ever again. Anyone who can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sir.

You have earned my respects.

I imagine that a lot less than 1% of the worlds population has your determination.

You will be a better man.
