service ldap start: no can do

hello,

if i do #service ldap start i get this error:
/usr/sbin/slapd: symbol lookup error: /usr/sbin/slapd: undefined symbol:
ldap_pvt_sasl_mutex_new
[FAILED]

but if i try to start the slapd daemon this way:
#/usr/local/libexec/slapd

i get no error, does anybody knows why?, does anybody has worked with openldap here?

You don't mention what system this is, (FreeBSD, RedHat Linux, Debian, etc.).

Did you install openldap22-client or openldap22-sasl-client?
The latter needs to be installed.

Can you tell me anything else about this installation?

sorry 'bout that one, i forgot to say i'm on mandrake 10.1

at first i tried to install the openldap22-sasl-client library but when i do urpmi openldap22-sasl-client it just answers that there are no package named openldap22-sasl-client.

i also did a rpm -qa '*ldap*' and got this

obviusly doesn't appear openldap22-sasl-client, but i guess that's not the correct name (if exist)

Well, you probably need the sasl client; I did.
