Dear forum users,

We are trying to configure & printing to Olivetti PR2E serial printer from SunRay 170 via serial cable (COM B). We have set the Printer Make as IBM and Printer Model as IBM ProPrinterII.

Unfortunately, when we tested print /etc/hosts file, it printed a junk "**********" characters. We did change the setting of Printer Make as Olivetti and Printer Model as Olivetti PG306 but it printed junk again.

We also tried connect the printer to COM A but this time the printer does not print anything.

Our setup environment:
- SFV240
- Solaris 10 10/08
- SunRay 4.1
- SunRay 170
- Olivetti PR2E

Appreciate your kind input and help.

Waiting for HELP !!!

I have a hard time with Unix and Linux printing too. Many people use Cups, which I haven't had much luck with either. Your luck may be better.
