I don't know anything about solaris, but my first guess would be that the machine is overheating. Does it boot up right away afterwards? Sometimes when a machine overheats it will boot back up and run for a few minutes. And if it does, does it shutdown suddenly soon again?

Anything in the logs? Or have we not looked there yet?

HI expert ,

Thanks , there no error log or hardware error , but since change the new UPS , the workstation more stable . FYI we not setup ups software inside ultra 45 ,is it possible the ups problem can trigger the workstation for shutdown ?

Thanks

Hadi

It could, but there would probably be lights flashing on the ups and it would probably make a beep noise. Check the owners manual for instructions on how to test the ups.

Hi,
Are you sure it is rebooting? Maybe it is going to the firmware level (OBP) and the going back to the multiuser level. Solaris does not have such thing... autoreebot after a time period.
Or maybe you have some cronjob doing this.... do you see anything in the logs?

One thing I recall about Sun; they are very sensitive to power fluctuations, so yes it may be possible that the power output from the UPS was unstable in the previous setup. Sometimes when a UPS is on its way out, they tend to cause more voltage fluctuations than they are employed to prevent.

Have you tried starting it up plugged directly into the power outlet rather than the UPS and verify stability that way?
