I looking at installing SuSE on a Compaq Presario 1200 with a Celeron Processor, however when i look to buy the cd off http://www.cheapiso.com they have a choice of i586 and x86-64, can some one tell me the differance between the two and tell me which one I need. I think the x86-64 one is the AMD architecture, but x86 by itself is totaly different so i want to make sure. Oh and one last question, the i586 on the CheapISO is an 'evaluation' version, does that matter?

Thanks

do you know the series number of your laptop?
x86_64 is the 64-bit version of the distro. it is not AMD specific.
i586 works on all cpu architectures (that are newer than really old, lol)
the only evaluation versions i'm seeing on that page is v10.0 and 9.3 pro, but 10.1 is the newest version and its available on that page so why wouldn't you get that? but to answer your question, no - it being an evaluation version doesn't matter. theres nothing that expires or runs out.
i'd say you want the i586
