terminal problems

hi every body
I am geting problem in my KDE desktop.whenever i try to open the terminal I am getting the error aas session shell exited with signal 11..How to fix this. please guide me

Switch to Gnome?

Actually, I think "signal 11" is a bus error, so that probably won't help either. Is this old hardware or an old kernel? What's the output or "uname -r"? What distribution are you using?

I get 2.6.9-1.667 this,after executing uname -r..
