It should work.. but I don't use ubuntu, so no idea how well it supports/configures alsa.

On debian sound works fine except with adobe flash, which doesn't work at all.

If I was having this problem I would start here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=205449

I always had that feeling.. The fried creative card I have was doing exactly the same thing.

For future sound issues reference I found a good troubleshooting and cure type thread here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=17882

Hi I'm new to ubuntu and have the same issue but the sound card is not onboard and worked under WinXP which I scrapped to opt for a Linux based OS. I hear a low popping sound when the computer goes on indicating it's powered up but then nothing. Any help would be greatly apreciated.
