Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the Virtuozzo/Plesk firewall settings on a new VPS server.
I am trying to lockdown critical ports (22, 21, 3306) etc to specific IP addresses but I came across this rule in the firewall config:

What are these ports used for?
Why is the range so high, why so many ports open?
Is it safe to leave this ports open?

Thanks for the help :D

If there is no service running on the port, there is nothing to worry about. However, feel free to close them anyway. Trojans run on high ports. The lesson from it is that nothing is secure out of the box, no matter what people tell you.
