What is Solaris??

What is Solaris? I know it's an operating system. I really don't exactly know what it is. Is it something i have to go into the store to buy? Is it free to get off of the web? Is it something like a computer?

On that following link. I seen information about it. I did not see a link where i can download Solaris from. Does anyone have an FTP site where i can download Solaris from? I might not download it right a way but i will some time in the future. I'm already downloading a Linux base system.
