Does anyone know of any way of monitoring dual power supplies on linux servers to find out if one of the supplies has failed or display whether both are powered on etc?

I've just recently had a server with dual power supplies put out a solid beep due to the cord having fallen out of one of the power supplies but since I don't sit next to my servers in real life, I couldn't hear this beep.

Is there some way to get information on the power supplies or monitor them in software on my linux boxen?

Who's brand?
Is it connected to a single or redundant controller card?
What is the failover schema?

I know that with dell servers they have the open manage software that lets you monitor stuff like power and temperature and RAID arrays and stuff, but if you don't have a dell server that doesn't help much.

the servers are basically brandless (small custom build manufacturer). All I know is that there are 2 power supplies plugged in to the motherboard, that it can stay up if 1 of them is unplugged and that's about it.
