I have 3 types of linux, debian, ubuntu, fedora, downloaded as .iso and burned to cd's.

How do I run them as parallel operating systems, to win xp pro?

I have heard of something called xen but That all I know.

you need to partition some space on your hard drive using programs such as acronis disk director suite or partition magic which can be run from inside windows, or gparted is free and has a livecd that will also allow you to repartition your hard drive out of windows. once partitioned, you can install whichever distro of linux you want to the newly freed space. unless you mean you want to run them in a virtual machine? in which case you'd need a program such as vmware or microsoft virtual pc.

Is there any reason that a particular distro of linux would not run in microsoft virtual pc?

uhm - i'm not sure. assuming the distro you're trying is of the proper processor architecture (i386 versions of distros, not ppc or x86_64) any random distro X should install. i'd suggest sticking with major distributions just to be safe tho

Nothing really, but it gives you an apache/mysql/php environment within windows.
