add style in text when highlight within textarea

guys...who have the idea of adding style in textarea for example in the email of yahoo.. when i type in textarea and highlighted it and click the "i" button it make italic what i've selected...

You're looking for something called a WYSIWYG editor. It allows you to modify text/images like you can in Microsoft Word or a similar editor. Check out CKEditor for an example.
