I have a similar question...

Can you block a person from viewing your website?

...say in a situation like a blogger account

htaccess is security (among other things) for your web server. Without
a linux/unix web host it's useless to you.

i'll try to find the link to all you need to know about htaccess if you still
want it.

There are many ways to restrict access. Blocking specific IP address and/or host names does work, but it can be circumvented. Most modern DHCP client implementations can renew leases; obtaining a new IP address in the process.

It would seem most people are fixated on the network layer. Did I miss something? Why not implement a user account system?

Hello!

I am a total newbie and probably not any sort of techie by this group's standards :D ...but I have a couple questions about this:

In the javascript posted by whatlikesit12345 it says to insert it into the head of you document - does this only have to be done at your top level index, or on evey single html page youwant to block?

Also, am not certain what the person;s IP address is, but I do know the primary and secondary dns #s for the person's provider...is there a way to blokc that entire provider (its a small provider in central IN - not an AOL or anything)?

I wish to block a user from accessing the entire site - what kind of server do I use, you will probably ask? I am not sure, I virtual host and use Microsoft Frontpage - if that gives out anything that may be useful.

Thanks!
