Well if you want to spend time on a button then use a graphics programme like jasc paint shop pro or adobe photoshop but if you want a straight forward button maker there is one called crystal button thats quite good

generally, the standard tools of webdesign include photoshop. Most
places, graphic and web, use it.

i don't think so Unflux , i suppose that the big company like macromedia & adobe buy ideas from , developer like small company they buy the copyright and include it into the soft's option or whole the software , that's why i don't belive in well known software !

like:

Code: [ Select ]

+++++++++/
+++------/
++-------/
+-------//
+------///
+/////////
  1. +++++++++/
  2. +++------/
  3. ++-------/
  4. +-------//
  5. +------///
  6. +/////////

Where + Are light pixels
- are neutral pixels
and / are dark pixels.

Thats basically what a button is.

You could also just use cutout tool or something similar to that in PS.

i'm sorry, mediadesign, but you are wrong. Every designer and design
firm I know or have been in association with uses adobe photoshop at
some point in their creation of graphics. It's simply the best and has
become an industry standard.

I know there are other options, and certainly people choose them, but I
know for a fact this is the case.

unflux is right...photoshop is the best, and it comes bundled with imageready which is handy for button animation and stuff. you could also use fireworks or flash. most designers use macromedia or adobe products for web graphics. there are definitely other programs available, but the ones i metioned are the easiest to use and, as a result, are used by most designers.
