I'm buying it from Namecheap.com and am hosting it at purgehosting.com

I am up to step two of the buying domain name process but am not sure what to select. This is what it is saying.

Woah, that explains it better? Thanks, but I still did not understand. Lol

I mostly need to know if I should use theirs or do custom. I have never done this before. My site is already hosted. It's currently a subdomain, I want it to be it's own domain.

Not sure if that changes anything.

Contact purgehostings support and ask them which nameservers you need to point your domain at.

They should either give you nameserver addresses to add under that "Custom Nameservers" area, or they're going to tell you where to find them in your hosting control panel when you access it using the IP.

You don't transfer anything.

You contact the host and ask them for the nameservers you should use, then you enter those nameservers in that custom nameservers field.

The conversation will go along the lines of,

you wrote:
Hello,

Account information you need to track down my account is xxxxxxx.

I have just purchased a domain with namecheap and I would like to know the addresses I should enter for the "Custom Nameservers" field. It says I should enter at least two addresses.

host wrote:
Hello,

Your nameservers will be

ns1.hosting-provider.com
ns2.hosting-provider.com

Then you take whatever two+ addresses they give you and enter them into that custom nameservers field.

Yes, in this part.

This is assuming purgehosting does things the normal way, and doesn't have strange restrictions or special instructions.

I'm finally able to access the purgehosting site, there's some bad weather here in Florida right now with tornados and whatnot so my connection is being unpredictable.

And I found this,
https://www.purgehosting.com/support/in ... 1&nav=0,10

And according to that article, your nameservers will be
Code: [ Select ]
NS1.PURGEHOSTING.COM
NS2.PURGEHOSTING.COM
  1. NS1.PURGEHOSTING.COM
  2. NS2.PURGEHOSTING.COM

So name servers will be the same for everyone or is that just an example?

Unless your host tells you otherwise, yes.

Actually I should probably clarify, not "everyone", just everyone hosted at purgehosting.

Quote:
PurgeHosting's Name Servers are:

NS1.PURGEHOSTING.COM
NS2.PURGEHOSTING.COM

That seems like a pretty solid indicator that these are the nameservers you're going to use to me.

There's no replacement however, for the ability to relax you'll get from an email from your host confirming those addresses.
