That's very true, and I definitely agree with you DigitalMedia, but I still say... PNGs rule! :handsup:

try a PNG-8 bit, they seem to be good enough quality usually. Play around with the dithering settings too

I thought I'd revive this ancient post as I was working on finally creating my own website and was facing this issue myself. spock gave the only solution that works, but many still had problems getting it to work.

While searching for resolution to this, I came upon an older script that works perfectly and is simple to use.

I used it for my temporary home page. The "under construction" sphere in the middle of the page is a transparent png and works perfectly in IE 6

As an off topic side note, both the xhtml and css validate -- proof of the benefit of using valid code, the page displays identically in every browser I tested.

IE7, IE6, Firefox 3, Opera 9, Safari for Windows 3, Flock 1.2.4
