contact form for html webpage

hi,
i want to help in contact form webpage. i try by using "mailto" but this is not working. how to i send my contact form information to my email when any one click in submit button. Is there any other way for contact form?
Another question that "what i use php script in my html page?" if there is any php or html contact form that help me, please provide me yours help.
