CSS Fluid 100% Problem

Trying to get this CSS Layout working that I just made.

Problem is the two divs I have that hold the left menu and the content on the right are set to stretch to 100% BUT they don't stretch...well...they DO stretch but they stretch 100% of the BROWSERS viewable area.

Im not sure if I explained that well enough but if 100% of the body is 600px high it will stretch it to 600px instead of 550 (assuming 50px of the space has been taken).

Try something like 25% for the left menu and 75% for the content or whateve rpercentages you need... that could be too big for the left menu...

okay, what about the footer? I can't get it to goto the very bottom..it just sits behind the leftmenu and content at the top

Try clear: both; property in your CSS.

What exactly does clear:both; do?

It clears the floats.
