Frankly, I think This is a long way to go for the effect. I would ,personally, still use a table for this, but let the CSS control everything about that table.

Well that's pretty much what I'm doign (in the article). I have 4 images of the corners. And floating left/right and they're not alignign to the edge of their bounding box which ahs no padding left or right.

I realize the original poster solved this issue quite some time ago, but this is another technique I found for creating rounded corners in CSS that doesn't require any manual image creation at all, by using a simple PHP script to generate the images. Not right for every situation, but much more maintainable and easier to modify since you don't have to slice and dice corner images every time you want to change a color, and you only have to edit one file (your CSS).
