We'll always be able to help you with html as you go along. I'd imagine you'de pay a premium for a phpbb website, rather then just any normal host. Where are you buying it from?

any decent host should offer php and mysql, which is all that's needed

if it's a small forum you can get that for 10$ a month

you could get hosting for about 2.99 mth if you go to the right places, and that will be plenty to start you off until you get 1000+ members. Let me know if you can't find a host and i can help you out.

Just remember:

$2.99 web hosts are great, but their customer support usually sucks bad.

If you're a newbie and you think you might be shooting questions to the host's support crew frequently, I'd recommend paying a little more than the bare minimum.

For those of us who could deal without having ANY customer support, many of the $2.99-$5.00/month web hosts are fine. But most of the cheepies I've dealt with have had issues with downtime, no customer support, improper installations, etc.

Just be careful. That is all.

more money=more employees=more people to answer questions=less time to get stuff sorted out :D

It's the same as going for a company rather than an individual, you can get hold of companies more easily, and think about if the individual decides to go on holiday....
