Is it generally better to have a domain with the full site/ company name, or shortened to the acronym?

http://www.newjerseyfakecompanyname.com

or

http://www.njfcn.com

It's good to have a keyword in a domain name, but keep the name short. both 1 and 2 are not that good :(

Also never use: -, _, 2010 ...

I suppose it depends on how well you are known and if you've ever gone by the acronym before. My fiance for example has a chocolate business, and goes by Chocolates by Becky. Her website chocolatesbybecky.com albeit a little long, makes a lot more sense than cbb.com (which probably isn't even available anyway. In your case, I'd say you could safely get away with shortening New Jersey to NJ which is the common and well known abbreviation and go with something like njfakename.com

btw, good to see you again~!
