Drop down menu

Hi All

Hopefully someone can help.

When someone visits my website, they can click on a link that sends them to a web page where they can select articles to view.

When the link is clicked, the referrer is also sent which I monitor.

When they are on the articles web page they select an article from a drop down menu and then click a button to link to the article.

I noticed that when selecting the article link from the drop down menu, the referrer is not sent.

Can someone explain why this happens. I really need the referrer to be sent as I use it for certain things.

If I link directly to the article, a referrer is sent.
So I am assuming that it is the drop down link that is not sending the referrer.

Would appreciate some help and how to send the referrer when a drop down link is used.
