What you're looking for is Milonic... they make some seriously kickarse DHTML menus...

http://www.milonic.com/

[edit] Woah... It appears Milonic has now become a pay site... man, all their awesome drop downs used to be offered for free! What a rip!

Anywho, check out sites like http://www.dynamicdrive.com or http://www.javascriptkit.com for things like this, they should have some :)

I had visited milonic as well in a search for how to set up similar menus. do you know of any help that would be available in implementing milonic scripts even if one chose to pay for them? I am DHTML deficient right now  so putting script and editing it for my needs is a little beyond my abilities.

Good links by the way. thanks. I haven't had a chance to read through them yet, but they look promising!

here's some other links i've found regarding DHTML menus:

http://kmserv.com/testbed/menu/menu.html#scripttag

http://www.echoecho.com/

there's alot more, just follow some of the link from the above sites, or do a search for dynamic menus or DHTML menus. i'm trying to put in pop-up menus, so i've been doing searching with that string as well.

there are programs that will generate menus for you automatically, such as AllWebMenus pro and such. you can give those a try if you're inclinced.

That menu was obtained from Dynamic Drive's DHTML Code Library. It's freeware and can also be customized to also slide in from the left. I've used it before and it's very easy to modify.

Here are the files you need to download and instructions:

I happened to read this thread because I've been working with the same issues (DHTML Menus) but not getting too far. I was able to get menus working from Dynamic Drive in no time. I defenitely recommend checking the site out. Great resource!
