My boss is an old time programmer and he says the correct way is “eMail” but I strongly disagree and think it looks naff on the page and I like to write it as “email”.

Microsoft messenger likes to write it “e-mail”.

Do you think it matters?

IBM participates in "e-business" and "e-commerce", so it follows that "e-mail" or "E-Mail" is correct.

Speaking of IBM, their site is down and has been for some time, anyone know why?

Cheers...

i'm assuming that since he's an old programmer, the old way to write out programming vars etc is to capitalize the 2nd word:
eMail, myVariable, etc...

same thing as email to me - which is how I always type it. using a "-" is too much work  :P

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=email

they have all three versions, plus a couple in all caps. I prefer all lower case, no hyphen (those extra taps of shift and or - are so wasting my time
