I use NotePad to create a README INSTRUCTION .txt file
(Saving can be ANSI or UTF-8 - BOTH give same results).
.
The file is downloaded from the internet by visitors
who receive a file that has lost all formatting
and is in extremely long lines.
.
Once the file is loaded onto the server
if I download it to my computer with FIlezilla
and open the .txt file
it has perfect formatting and is fully editable.
.
What is happening and how can I fix this problem?
Thanks

Hi Bogey
Thank you for taking the time to reply.

My Hosting is with GoDaddy on a mix of Shared and Deluxe Linux servers.

(As an aside - I hope you can find a job very soon - it must be tough in the States - still one good turn get another - as they say here in China where Karma rules).

You might check your settings in filezilla and change the way its being uploaded.

Check your Transfer->Transfer Type, it's either in ASCII or Binary. Try switching the mode. My guess is that its in Binary. For a text file you will want ASCII.

Check this link out for more information: http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Data_Type
