I would only ever use frames for an Intranet based site. They are too problematic to use in the outside world. Search engines dont like them for a start, they cant see all of the code and therefore can't index all of your content.

They are useful however for sections of very large websites which could be cumbersome to update eg Navigation bar on 200 pages. But they are not the only solution. I would use server side includes as an alternative.

Click the search button at the top of the page. Type in frames, hit enter. There have been multiple discussions about frames and even the threads with questions about frames still contain opinions about them.

Frames can be a pian in the rear to put it lightly. Expecialy if you are going to be using them for a website. there can be multiple navigation issues, and when your site is searched, only indvividual frames can/will show up. In my opinion, frames arnt worth the little they provide.

Why not lock the thread? This one is redundant for sure.

The only frames I would EVER think about using would be an occasional Iframe for certain things.

Which can be avoided entirely by using CSS.
