Ok I am a moron and can not figure this out for the life of me. I am making several boxes to the left of the screen for my navigation. I want each box to have a border around it. Thats easy no big deal ;)

Which would kindof look like this:
Code: [ Select ]
<div id="left">

<Table bgcolor="#534a66" border="1" width="150">
<tr><td>box 1</td></tr></table><br><br>

<Table bgcolor="#534a66" border="1" width="150">
<tr><td>box 2</td></tr></table><br><br>

<Table bgcolor="#534a66" border="1" width="150">
<tr><td>box 3</td></tr></table><br><br>

<Table bgcolor="#534a66" border="1" width="150">
<tr><td>box 4</td></tr></table>

</div>
  1. <div id="left">
  2. <Table bgcolor="#534a66" border="1" width="150">
  3. <tr><td>box 1</td></tr></table><br><br>
  4. <Table bgcolor="#534a66" border="1" width="150">
  5. <tr><td>box 2</td></tr></table><br><br>
  6. <Table bgcolor="#534a66" border="1" width="150">
  7. <tr><td>box 3</td></tr></table><br><br>
  8. <Table bgcolor="#534a66" border="1" width="150">
  9. <tr><td>box 4</td></tr></table>
  10. </div>

My problem is that I want the border to be dotted. I searched and the only way I can find to do that is:

Code: [ Select ]
<style type="text/css">
p
{
border: 1px dotted #eee6ff
}
</style>
  1. <style type="text/css">
  2. p
  3. {
  4. border: 1px dotted #eee6ff
  5. }
  6. </style>

It did work gave & me the border. But I don't want to use the /p as it messes up my layout. Is there another way to do this?

Thanks so much!

I would suggest doing it like this:

Code: [ Select ]
<style>
TABLE{background:#534a66;width:150px;}
TD{border:1px dotted #eee6ff;color:#eee6ff;}</style>

<table cellspacing="4" cellpadding="4">
<tr>
   <td>box 1</td></tr>
<tr>
   <td>box 2</td></tr>
<tr>
   <td>box 3</td></tr></table>
  1. <style>
  2. TABLE{background:#534a66;width:150px;}
  3. TD{border:1px dotted #eee6ff;color:#eee6ff;}</style>
  4. <table cellspacing="4" cellpadding="4">
  5. <tr>
  6.    <td>box 1</td></tr>
  7. <tr>
  8.    <td>box 2</td></tr>
  9. <tr>
  10.    <td>box 3</td></tr></table>
