Hi Everyone,

I have a parenting site with way too many pages. I want an easier format for my members that looks attractive so members look forward to coming back and thos who come across it want to be a part of it...

I have a format in my head for my home page and I've drawn up a rough sketch but I have no idea how to go about coding it.

Here is the image I have drawn:

I have no idea how to insert my logo banner into the top table, my images or buttons, Links and News into the tables, all how to align my text around the tables. I also want to insert my own backgrounds into the table and text parts.

Any help with the coding for this would be much appeciated. Thanks.

If you are looking at maintaining a site with a lot of static html pages, I would advise you to learn some css layout techniques. Build your site with css and you will be able to redesign the entire site (next time) in hours rather than days.

The background images are also best done with css.

I'm not 100% sure what you are asking about inserting buttons and links in the tables.

put an img tag insider the td:

Code: [ Select ]
<table>
  <tr>
    <td>
      <img src="filename" alt="alt text" />
    </td>
  </tr>
</table>
  1. <table>
  2.   <tr>
  3.     <td>
  4.       <img src="filename" alt="alt text" />
  5.     </td>
  6.   </tr>
  7. </table>

Of course you will have whole load more tr's and td's than that.
Nest it in the code and it will be in the td. Simple as that.

definately. Although I don't think they do too much on layouts. Start there and get the idea of how it all woks then move on to some dedicated layouts sites:

I learned by looking at glish:
http://www.glish.com/css/

but I just saw a link from that site that gives a step by step tutorial on how to layout sites:

http://www.webreference.com/authoring/s ... /advanced/

You'll have to play with it a little bit but it does help make things easier, and is well worth learning.

Good luck
