Help with validation

Hi all,

I am in the middle of setting up a art classifieds site.

Can I ask for some help please. I have tried validating my code (this is new to me) with http://validator.w3.org/

I am getting errors that I can't sort out, any help would be great.

Many of your non-value tags need to be closed. For example:

I'll look into it today when I get from school. Most of the time the validator shows a lot of unvalidated mistakes when there is only one or two mistakes which throws off the other elements. Like the highlighted " " " (quotation marks).

Your main issues appear to be from not defining the styling in a stylesheet. In XHTML you should use CSS, so no <font> tags, table properties should be defined in your stylesheet, heights and widths need units and your tags need closing <br /> not <br>. You have a lot of work to do, best of luck.

Hi

Thanks for that, I had a look last night and at one stage got it all clear on the html 4, the only thing I am struggling with it that it does not like table heights in the body, but how do you define this in css, width is fine but height does not seem to work.

Thanks, I have decided to redo the layout with css completely, so I may be asking for help again. I have the height working now.

The page in html 4 compliant, but the code you posted does not work with the scripts I am using, so I will work through converting to css.

I have managed to get compliant now on the loose html 4

I will work towards the xhtml

It seems that the pages load much quicker now.
