How to use focusWidget without using hotkeys

Is there any possible way to use focuswidget() without using hotkey. There is a application created using yahoo widgets, On every 5min am alerting new messages. At certain point I have hided my widget.

On any new messages arises i need to bring my widget to front.

The intervals were set for 2 min. The focuswidget() is conflicting . Can any one help on this
