I have a footer that goes at the bottem of the site. Problem I have is that it apears ontop of other divs at the top of the page even though its at the bottom of the code its just a simple HTML div with some php in it. It works fine in IE bot other browsers show it as described above. css code
Code: [ Select ]
#foot {
    display:block;
    position:relative;
    height:50px;
    width:800px;
    margin:0px auto;
    text-align:center;
    }
  1. #foot {
  2.     display:block;
  3.     position:relative;
  4.     height:50px;
  5.     width:800px;
  6.     margin:0px auto;
  7.     text-align:center;
  8.     }

the html code
Code: [ Select ]
...<div id="foot">
Copyright ( &copy; ) <?php print date(Y) ?> - <?php print date(Y)+1 ?> <a href="includes/pp.txt" target="_blank">View Our Privately Policy</a>
</div>...
  1. ...<div id="foot">
  2. Copyright ( &copy; ) <?php print date(Y) ?> - <?php print date(Y)+1 ?> <a href="includes/pp.txt" target="_blank">View Our Privately Policy</a>
  3. </div>...

In your #foot selector, display:block; shouldn't be needed unless you've caused an inheritance problem by declaring display:inline; somewhere else. The position:relative; is also a little out of place depending on why it's there.

What's happening in the DIVs above? Are they floating or positioned absolutely? If they floating, you should a clear:both; to the footer.

Ive always put display:block and position:relative got into the habet of doing it all of the divs above are block and relative with margin:0px auto to align them.

Any way taking them out does not help, nothing changes but clear:both fixes it thanks!
Never herd of clear before
