Planning to embed a chat program to a a website. Questions are: Is there any free live chat program? How can I embed it into the website?

O.K I just got some idea about how to embed a chat program using Applet or Object Tags. Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

That would be correct if you are using a java-based chat program. Although applet is depricated, so you should use object.

Here's a decent free one using php

Do some searching for Free PHP Ajax Chat, I have found two packages that look ok: "PHP free chat", and "Mia Chat". I've used PHP free chat before, had no problems. I'll use Mia chat for my next chat project, looks quite good to work with, will be good to know it better.

Live Person...but its not free..Its a good one though

http://www.olark.com which used to be called Habla has a pretty sweet free live help offering. It's all javascript based and looks pretty pro.
