I code in WebObjects wich is own by Apple. I can only develop on a Mac.

In the past you could deploy on Linux... wich is what I was doing, for obvious reasons.

But they switch it so you can only deploy on OS Server.

So I just bought my 3rd mac laptop.

My 2 cent :

Go for a mac only if you have a program that only runs on it.

Doing photoshop on mac is troing money out the window.

Don't get me wrong Mac OS X is very nice system... based on Unix, which is very nice if you have to interact with Linux machines.

But a mac will cost you 1.5 times the price of a pc with the same hardware.

And if you need a server, like I do, Apple knows you're stuck with them... cause nobody use a mac server who is forced to do so.... It will cost almost 2 times more then a Dell server of equal force... and like 2.5 time then if you buy the parts and build it yourself

Any proffessional creative design/video computer work is always done on Mac.

And Mac is much easier to use.

And never crashes (or very seldomly, unlike P.C. which comes with crashing as a feature)

And viruses are usually not written for Mac.

Thanks

I disagree. Where are you getting that statistic from?

For who? Beginners? Anyone proficient with design work should be able to comfortably work in just about any environment.

You've obviously never owned a PowerBook G4 :x

Even if it's running UNIX or Linux?

Only if you don't ever click with it. I use a mac all day with a Logitech MX1000 and all 7 buttons work exactly as the do on a pc...

I prefer windows only because I like to build my own computer from the ground up. I don't think you can buy the MAC OS. Linux I guess could be a choice but not what I was started on.

linux use to be ok as i worked with it for a little bit years ago, but its safe to say XP and vista took over because of its friendly environment, in any case, i love PC's there is just so much more you can do, those who use a MAC are those who do not know much about computing and want to just use simple apps, my opinion of course hehe

That seems like a pretty misinformed opinion. Would you care to elaborate about something that Windows allows that a unix based Mac OSX does not?
