Post 3+ Months Ago

hey guys i'm gonna consider this my intro post as well as my help post.

I'm a 21 year old from Australia, studying @ uni to get his Bachelors in IT.
I've got an assignment create a eCommerce website and one of the things I have to do is validate it on
Quote:
validator.w3.o*rg/

That's all good, but I keep getting one error.

the error is:
Quote:
Line 89, Column 10: required attribute "ACTION" not specified
<form>
‚úČ
The attribute given above is required for an element that you've used, but you have omitted it. For instance, in most HTML and XHTML document types the "type" attribute is required on the "script" element and the "alt" attribute is required for the "img" element.

Typical values for type are type="text/css" for <style> and type="text/javascript" for <script>.

Now line 89 (the line with the error) is just a
Code: [ Select ]
<form>
so I'll guess ill just copy the whole form
Code: [ Select ]
<form>

                            <p><input class="text_input" type="text" value=" Username"></p>

                            <p><input class="text_input" type="text" value=" Password"></p>

                            <p><input class="btn_purple" type="submit" value="Login"></p>

                            <p><input class="btn_purple" type="submit" value="Register"></p>

                        </form>
  1. <form>
  2.                             <p><input class="text_input" type="text" value=" Username"></p>
  3.                             <p><input class="text_input" type="text" value=" Password"></p>
  4.                             <p><input class="btn_purple" type="submit" value="Login"></p>
  5.                             <p><input class="btn_purple" type="submit" value="Register"></p>
  6.                         </form>

I'm sorry for asking a questions straight up, but if you help I promise I'll become active on ozzu.

Trust me guys you know you want it :)! Thanks guys in advance!

I think you need to specify a method and action attribute when working with strict markup (but I'm not 100% sure). Something like this may work:

Code: [ Select ]
<form action="someform.php" method="post">
                <p><input class="text_input" type="text" value=" Username"></p>
                <p><input class="text_input" type="text" value=" Password"></p>
                <p><input class="btn_purple" type="submit" value="Login"></p>
                <p><input class="btn_purple" type="submit" value="Register"></p>
</form>
  1. <form action="someform.php" method="post">
  2.                 <p><input class="text_input" type="text" value=" Username"></p>
  3.                 <p><input class="text_input" type="text" value=" Password"></p>
  4.                 <p><input class="btn_purple" type="submit" value="Login"></p>
  5.                 <p><input class="btn_purple" type="submit" value="Register"></p>
  6. </form>
