I have just downloaded Mozilla, but before I install I just want to check that installing this second browser (I have IE because I run on WIN XP) will not interfear with the internet connection, do something horribly bad and leave me with neither my broadband or any internet connection.

I just don't want to end up with NO internet because installing Mozilla may mess around with the settings and config.

Thanks for any help.

you're fine, I've got about 6 browsers on my system, never had any conflicts. Just install then select whichever you want to be default and that should be it.

FireFox is a development fork to combat complaints that Mozilla's footprint was too big. I've only noticed very insignificant differences in the way it renders pages from Mozilla.

So which one are you saying I should use? Is there another browser other than Netscape people like to use? But overall, Mozilla or Firefox over IE anyday???

Well browser stats show that very few people use netscape at all now. Why not just download and install the lot. I've currently got the latest windows versions of

IE
Netscape
Mozilla
Firefox
Opera
[a text browser who's name escapes me]
(I would also have older versions but it just doesn't seem to wanna let me do that :( )

Just install the lot and see which one you like best. It's a better way of deciding than asking other people which to use

Personally I use Firefox because it's not IE and it has the least amount of crap in the top section (I never use any of that stuff anyway). Plus it has the google box built in and has a super-cute logo.

Just tried Mozilla, and I have to say I don't like it. It just feels kinda ugly. Doesn't seem any faster than IE, but as you say, just have to go around and try the lot.

Actually, on my win2k machine, IE launches and browses considerably faster than FireFox. I do like FireFox. It's a very good browser.

I say choose your software soley based on what you like.

I use all browsers daily, because I am constantly testing things, but for casual browsing, I use IE.

On my machine I have:
IE
Mozilla 1.3a
FireFox .8
Opera 7
Netscape 7
Netscape 4.08
IBM's HomePage Reader 3

Wow dang all you guys and your browsers LOL.

I only use

IE
myIE2
Firefox

I got IE2 because it uses tabbed browseing which is really neat when you have several web pages open at once. I use Firefox mostly to verify my coding. Since it seems to display certain things differently than IE does. Firefox does load up slower the IE or IE2 but its much more stable in my OP. where IE would just shut down or stall, it never has for me so far.

I must add here that IE is builtin the OS. So loading time is not only the time you wait for it when you fire it up. IE loads along with the OS at startup

FireFox is by far the best browser i have seen :D

Not only is Firefox free, streamlined and easy-to-use, only very rarely does one build browser hijackers and the like for Firefox. It's very secure.

It also looks and behaves enough like IE to appeal to many people (including my parents ;) ) but it's different enough so that it makes a name for itself.
